Gastric cancer

What is it?

Abnormal growth or tumor in the stomach is a common cause of tumors in people over 60 years. There are predisposing or risk factors and include:
• Hereditary or genetic factors
• Smoking
• High-salt diet
• Poor or low consumption of vegetables
• Chronic infection of Helicobacter pylori

Symptom

• Fast Gastric Filling
• Nausea
• Vomiting / Vomiting with fresh blood content
• Pain in the pit of the stomach
• Gastric Strain

Diagnostic Studies

• Endoscopy with biopsy
• TAC of abdomen
• Esophagogastroduodenal series

Treatment

Medical:
• Diet
• Antacids
• Food supplements

Surgical:
• Resection of the tumor with part of the stomach and reconstruction of the stomach.
